Hello and welcome to 5KR!
Essential information for you:
PE days - Thursday (this half term football), Friday (tag rugby), please make sure your child has their full school PE kit, along with something suitable for outdoors (joggers, tracksuit top) as well as trainers that are appropriate to wear if we go on the field for PE.
All children have received a weekly reading record, therefore please enjoy reading with your child (you never know when they no longer want to read with you!).
Clubs this half term for Year 5 children:
Boys football: Thursday with Liam
Dance Factor: Thursday with Miss Rayson & Mrs Reed
On Wednesday 12th October 2016, we will all be visiting Scarborough for our Y5 residential. It's linked to our Literacy unit of work based around narrative writing and the adventures of Captain James Cook.
There will be a parents evening soon to give all final details on Scarborough - so watch this space. For final payment details, please contact school office.
Homework in 5KR.
* All children will receive weekly reading homework linked to the Guided Reading text they read with me in class on a weekly basis. This will be to continue reading from where we got up to in class, as well as then complete a short task linked to the pages read.
It would be greatly appreciated if all children (regardless of reading ability) could be supported fully with this, especially the comprehensive elements and wording of their answer.
* We give out homework projects in Y5 linked to the an area of the curriculum from class. The projects are half termly and there may be two per half term. The children normally get 2 - 3 weeks to complete this and bring in their finished product. We ask that these projects are done to a high standard and can be presented to an audience. In 5KR I encourage the children to demonstrate 'thinking outside the box' with their projects. Every child will receive a certificate (Bronze, Silver, Gold) based on their effort, presentation skills, creativity and end product.
* Weekly maths homework (for Miss Rayson's maths class) will be distributed if the teacher feels this is relevant, this homework will be handed out on a Monday and expected back on a Friday. Again, please support your child with this, yet allowing them to take control and seek support from me if necessary to allow me to know areas for further development.
