After an early start rehearsing at St. Barnabas Church from 8:00am, our choir then travelled to Heysham Gardens to sing Christmas carols and other songs for the residents there. It was a special time for everybody involved. The children sang and the residents joined in. It didn't matter that there was 80 years between them; they were united by the sense of occasion and by the music that they all knew. They chatted and laughed together, young and old, and we sang Happy Birthday to Clem, who was celebrating his 90th.
Sometimes, special moments really do happen.
Thank you to the children and staff from Belle Vue and to the residents of Heysham Gardens, who I think both took more from that hour together than can be put into words.
