Belle Vue Primary School

Year 1

This is the year 1 blended learning page  where you will find all of the activities to complete while you are learning from home. It will be updated weekly with new activities.

We would love you to share your home learning with us using our email address, year1@bellevue.cumbria.sch.uk and please do not hesitate to get if you have any questions and we will be happy to help.

In the mean time, look after yourselves, stay safe and we will look forward to seeing you again soon.

Our creative learning menu. How about earning yourselves some house points?

Additional Literacy/topic Can you look at the picture of Scutari Hospital before Florence Nightingale arrived and draw a picture of what you think it looked like, then add labels to describe some of the things on the wards. Art/topic: can you create your own ‘Queen Victoria cross’ like the one Florence Nightingale was awarded with for her bravery and hard work during the Crimean war? Here are some pictures of some that were made in school last week. Use what ever you can get your hands on or you could just draw a picture? Can’t wait to see them!

Again we are all overwhelmed with all of the children's hard work and they have adjusted to this new way of learning! They are all so resilient and speaking to them all over the past couple of weeks has certainly put smiles on all of our faces. They are all stars! It was a difficult decision but Year 1's stars of the week this week are Jacoby 1CL and Gracie 1AT. Well done everyone!

Well what can I say Year One! We are absolutely overwhelmed with all of the hard work you are doing at home. Here is just a snippet of some of the wonderful things you have all been up to! We miss you all lots!

Here are some photographs of some of the amazing home learning our Year 1’s have been doing this week! It has been lovely speaking to you all and hearing what you’ve been up. We are so proud of you all. Love from all of the year 1 team

Mr Kydd's 2 minute tests- test yourselves on Mr Kydd's 2 minute test? How many questions can you answer correctly in 2 minutes. Remember not to move onto test 2 until you have managed to answer all of the questions on test 1 correctly in under 2 minutes. You could challenge yourself daily and let us know how you get on! Good luck!

Additional maths- challenge by choice

Topic- Florence Nightingale. Activity: Look through the powerpoint and fact files (differentiated from easy to more difficult) of Florence Nightingale's life and use this to help you create your own fact file about her. You can present it in any way you like, you might even choose to use the computer. Please make sure that your fact file includes: a title (Florence Nightingale) a picture of Florence Nightingale and a fascinating fact about her life. Here are some questions which you might include in your writing: When was she born? How did she travel to Scutari? Why do we still remember Florence today?I can't wait to see some of your finished pieces.
