Congratulations to Liam for solving the digit cards problem last week. Despite spending plenty of time trying to solve it, Mr Jenkinson was frustrated and defeated by the problem until Liam brought a fresh perspective on how to solve it!
The solution is below....
HISTORY/ART & DESIGN
Continuing with our link to the Victorians, this week (and next), we’re going to explore the life and work of William Morris whose designs are still printed today. This week, you need to follow the PowerPoint (see resources) and also complete Activity 1 (again, listed in resources) |
PE - Street Dance
The unit of work that we were meant to be covering in school this ½ term was Street Dance. We are hoping that this dance, combined with the ‘foot shake dance’ that we’ve been learning too, will be the dance that we perform at the opening ceremony for Sports Week in the summer term. We would like you to spend some time over the coming weeks trying to perfect this dance along with Sheena and the Premier Sport coaches. Follow the link below:

Reading
ON DANGEROUS GROUND We’ve decided to alter the Reading Comprehension work this week so that the work set is something you’re all more familiar with and we know, from making our phone calls, that perhaps some of the teachers on the videos are quite tricky to follow. So, this week, we’ve set you a range of different texts from a past paper so that you can keep practising the skills we’ve been working on in school. The reading booklet, question answer booklet and marking scheme are listed in the resources. THERE IS NO EXPECTATION THAT YOU HAVE TO PRINT THEM OUT. We are quite happy for answers to be done on paper.
Remember to think about:
We have also included the mark scheme – you just need pages 8 – 28 to check how you’re doing. You DO NOT need to do these in test conditions/in a set amount of minutes; it’s about being able to reading for understanding, a really important life- skill.
Monday – Volcanoes (pg 4 and 5 of reading booklet/ Q 1 – 8 in the answer booklet)
Tuesday – Disaster Strikes (pg 6 and 7 of reading booklet/ Q9-15 in the answer booklet)
Wednesday: - Pompeii Today (pg 8 and 9 of the reading booklet/ Q 16-24 in the answer booklet)
Thursday: - The Advertisements (pg 10 and 11/ Q 25-28)
Friday: - About the whole booklet (Q 29,30,31 |

Science:
Due to technical difficulties we have had to make a change to the Science lesson on the plan. We will still be doing the 'What is Inheritance' lesson in a week or so time but for this week we would like you to access a lesson from The Oak Academy. It is called 'What is Evolution' and you will learn about Charles Darwin and his journey to the Galapagos Islands. This is very much part of the Evolution unit we have planned, you are just doing it a week or so sooner than intended! Please follow the link below to access the lesson - you will need to copy and paste the link rather than click on it. Thank you Year 6 and we are looking forward to seeing all your hard work.
