Music plays a huge role in life at Belle Vue. We believe that all children should have the opportunity to learn to play an instrument and enjoy listening to the highest quality music. It is also vitally important that pupils who show and interest are able to learn an instrument of their choice and we are proud to offer a wide variety of peripatetic tuition. We aim to provide pupils with many opportunities to perform both in school and in the wider community.
Peripatetic Music
All pupils in Belle Vue have the opportunity to learn and instrument outside those learned as part of our core music curriculum (recorder and ukulele). We currently offer lessons in:
- Woodwind (flute and clarinet)
- Trumpet
- Piano/ keyboard
- guitar
- Drums
As part of this, pupils regularly have the opportunity to perform in front of an audience.
Choir
Our school choir perform regularly both in school and in our community. Most recently this has included a local residential home, in the city centre for the switching on of the Christmas lights and at Carlisle music festival where we were proud to be named winners of the Junior Choirs award.
Music in the Community
Just as our choir performs regularly in our community, our children also have the chance to perform to a wider audience on the instruments they learn as part of our core music curriculum.
All children in Belle Vue learn to play the recorder and ukulele and have the opportunity to share this with and audience. This includes school performances for parents and grandparents as well as other opportunities such as performing in a local residential home and in church with Carlisle Brass Band.
