Belle Vue Primary School

Geography

Geography is quite literally all around us. Our Geography curriculum is designed to develop a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with our pupils for the rest of their lives.

Here at Belle Vue, we seek to promote the children’s interest and understanding of diverse places, people, resources, and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the earth’s key physical and human processes. Through our teaching, we intend to provoke thought, questions and to encourage children to discover answers to their own questions through exploration and research to enable them to gain a greater understanding and knowledge of the world and their place in it.

Our geography curriculum enables children to develop knowledge and skills that are transferable to other curriculum areas, which can and are used to promote their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Geography is, by nature, an investigative subject, which develops an understanding of concepts, knowledge and skills.

Geography Progression of Knowledge

We took place in the national festival of fieldwork this year for the first time, and all year groups had fun getting out and about in our local area to observe, collect and record data.

Our Marvellous Maps! During fieldwork week we ran a map making competition to design a map of ‘Your Perfect Place’ and the response was amazing 🗺️ Check out our 4 winners below.
