Belle Vue Primary School

House Captains

Chosen by the children to represent important parts of our locality, Belle Vue has 4 different houses: Eden House, Hadrian House, Pennine House and Solway House. At the start of primary school, each child gets placed in a house and remains with their teammates throughout their journey at Belle Vue. Our Year 6 team captains, elected each year into the role, organise and run a calendar of events that children complete in their house teams. We think this injects lots of fun into school life! Continue reading to meet our team captains and find out what they've been up to!

Team Captains 2024/2025

We had a whopping 29 applications to become team captain this year - wow! Well done to all those children who took the time and effort to apply. Unfortunately, we couldn't appoint all of you but congratulations to those who have been chosen to lead their house this academic year.

Events and Competitions This Year

There are many exciting things in the pipeline for this year. Before the end of the Autumn term, the Team Captains are looking forward to launching the annual Christmas Jumper Competition and will soon be busy planning our first whole-school 'House Day' of the year. Watch this space!

Past Events and Competitions

Our Team Captains have put on an array of events and competitions in the past. Here is just a flavour of the exciting things our children have taken part in..

'The Cube' House Day:

Split into mixed teams from Year 1-6, children had to complete a series of challenges based around the TV show 'The Cube'. By working together, teams had to share their strengths and choose the best candidate to complete each challenge, earning valuable house points in the process!

World Cup Shootout:

Each child was split into an 8-person team to represent a country playing in the world cup. Over the course of the tournament, teams played against each other every lunch time, following the fixtures in real life. Our team captains managed the tournament brilliantly on the playground throughout. Well done to Serbia, our eventual World Cup Shootout Winners!

Christmas Jumper Competition:

Children had to design their very own Christmas jumper, with the eventual winners being made into actual jumpers! Many thanks to the 200+ entrants (and to the House Captains for managing to choose two winners!).

The Great Belle Vue Bake Off:

Over two separate rounds (one with the theme of 'thanks' and another designed to represent the school houses) children baked cupcakes, traybakes and showstoppers! There were hundreds of entries that all looked (and tasted!) FANTASTIC. What do you think?!

Photography Competition:

Children were challenged to take a photograph to represent the theme of 'nature'. The winners were awarded with two framed prints of their photographs: one to take home and one that is proudly displayed in school!

'Teamwork' House Day:

Children from across the whole school took part in a house day to encourage teamwork. Working together in mixed-year groups, children enjoyed 4 different activities, all run by the team captains! Lots of fun was had and many new friends were made.

House Crest Design Competition:

Children designed crests to represent their house. They also came up with some fabulous key words that would bring their teammates together. The winning designs were then professionally made into crests and are now displayed in our halls!

House Points

At Belle Vue, children earn house points as a reward for living up to our school values. Each week, we look forward to hearing who the winning team is in assembly and afterwards our Team Captains update the display board in our corridor. It's amazing to think each week hundreds of house points are awarded across the school for brilliant work, attitude or acts of kindness! Keep up the amazing work, everyone!
