Belle Vue Primary School

School Council

The School Council of Belle Vue Primary School consists of two representatives from each class, from Year 1 to Year 6.  The council meet frequently to express views and make decisions about key areas of school life. They work hard to ensure our School is a happy, vibrant school for all where all pupils can feel safe and enjoy their learning.

During 2021-2022 our School Council worked closely with Mrs Brooks to reinvigorate our central courtyard area in KS1. The area was transformed into a special place for classes to go to work!

During 2020-21 our School Council were able to bring together the ideas of the whole school to choose playground games and activities. The playground markings were improved, with the School Council helping to shape the final designs!

During 2019-2020 Our School Council worked together to come up with ideas of for our new 'KS2 Quiet Area' for playtimes and lunchtimes. We want this place to be an area where we can enjoy quiet free time away from the more energetic playtime games. The artist, Katy, took our ideas and provided the designs for us. She took time during 'lockdown' to make our idea come to life! We hope you like it! Thank you to the Friends of Belle Vue for their support of this project.

In 2018-19 the School Council were involved in transforming an underused space in the school into a purpose-built cookery facility. Members of the School Council represented Belle Vue at the Carlisle Schools' School Council meeting in Council Chambers. Other members also spoke out in a meeting with Council members regarding climate change.

Previous School Councils have been successful in revamping our library and been able to share their classmates' views on what makes an effective learner.
